Case Study: Implementation
Tidal Power Feasibility
CADA re-engineered spreadsheet-heavy feasibility assessment into software capable of evaluating vastly more design configurations.
The Ambition
Increase the flexibility and confidence in first-pass design options that were impractical for calculations in spreadsheets.
Calculations were recast in Python during a series of collaborative two-week development sprints to add functionality and improve fidelity.
How We Added Value
- Audited existing engineering workflows and identified process improvement opportunities.
- Enabled modelling enhancements that were impractical in Excel-based workflows.
- Embedded delivery with client teams to transfer knowledge and build capability.
Strategic Delivery Phases
Identification
Identified opportunities to streamline process, improve quality and enhance insight for proposed and untested schemes.
Delivery
Auditing of engineering calculation process and documentation of workflows.
Proof of Concept
Developed proof of concept software tools with enhancements to modelling allowing multiple locations and design configurations.
Outcome
- Provided a range of enhancement options with relative benefits/value.
- Produced more robust evidence for business case development.
- Positioned the client strongly for subsequent project-stage decisions.
